Valley City Tennis Association named USTA Northern Organization of the Year
Samantha Evans is a graduate of the University of Wyoming and has spent the last four years covering educational issues throughout North Dakota. She has previously worked with NPR affiliates, where she dug into the challenges and successes within local schools.

The Valley City Tennis Association (VCTA) was named the 2026 USTA Northern Organization of the Year during an awards ceremony Oct. 31 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Established in 1981, the award recognizes USTA Organization Members that exemplify the organization s mission through service to their communities, members and the sport of tennis. Eligible organizations include tennis clubs, community tennis associations, schools, National Junior Tennis and Learning chapters, and parks and recreation agencies. Recipients are recognized for their contributions to the game through junior and adult programming, community involvement and support of their members. USTA Northern encompasses North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota and western Wisconsin. This marks the second time the VCTA has received the award, having previously been honored in 2005. The association is the only organization to have won the USTA Northern Organization of the Year award twice.
